Buying with Tullochs

What’s at Tullochs this week?

At auction or just buying outright at our showrooms- there’s a way to buy for everyone at Tullochs! You can buy many items right now!

Are you checking what Tullochs has on offer each week? If not, you’re missing out on rare treasures, and paying too much for quality homewares, tools and appliances!

Dealers, traders and other business people have known for many years that auctions are the place to find rare treasures and things of beauty as well as homewares, tools, appliances, furnishings etc at bargain prices. Now YOU, the regular retail buyer, can buy at the same prices as these canny folk making a living from buying low and selling high, and it’s risk free with our ‘No Buyer Beware’ policy.

We market our treasures and wonderful things in several ways. We can offer items by Private treaty, in an ‘on site’ sale, via Sealed Bid and through a timed Tender process. The type of sale we conduct most regularly are our online auctions whereby items on display in our George Street rooms are offered for sale via internet bidding (or by Absentee Bidding where buyers leave us a maximum amount they want to spend and we bid on their behalf up to this figure, more on this later). These auctions are essentially two different types of sale within the one.

In the earlier part of the sale, roughly Lot Numbers 1 to 700 are quality goods and treasures such as antiques, collectables, jewellery, coins and stamps, fine furniture both antique and modern, quality Persian rugs and near new electrical items and whitegoods. From Lot 700 onwards we have our ‘rusty gold’ that may include old farm implements, wheels etc, garden ornaments, timber, motor vehicles and parts, books, toys, automotive and workshop tools, our famous bargain box lots of china, glass and other household goods as well as older appliances and various homewares. These are bargain priced wholesale items but there is no junk…..anything of little to no value goes in the bin!

Our Tullochs Online auctions are the smarter way to buy and sell. Simple and effective, they represent the way forward. Bidding via the Internet is a convenient, secure, modern method to acquire new and old goods. Throughout the world, everyday consumers, business owners and collectors alike are now using reputable online platforms like Tullochs to procure an extensive array of products including homewares, appliances, motor vehicles and various items of rarity – all at the click of a button whether you’re on the go or in the comfort of your own home. The process of setting up a new user account in the Tullochs system takes only a few seconds and
you’re ready to place your first bid. Any trouble getting this done? Give the office a call immediately and we’ll sort it out right away!

As well as the quality antiques and collector cars for which we’ve become famous, Tullochs have a wide variety of general goods and collectable treasures under the hammer each week, providing excellent bargains to the online bidder. Many lots start at just $10.
Buying and selling online has marked benefits over the traditional method, particularly when it comes to auctions. The process of bidding online allows the potential buyer to watch items they have ‘wish listed’ anytime of day or night and keep a constant tab on progress – ensuring they get the best deal possible. Buyers can even choose their bidding style. Some choose to put on a large bid quite early on in the auction. Our system bids on your behalf, and only up to your maximum amount. Some buyers like to increase their bids slowly through the week as they’re outbid, and others like to wait until auction night and place their bids at the last minute. It’s all in your control.
Online auctions also allow anyone from anywhere in Australia or the world to purchase items that they have been searching for. This is particularly pertinent to the Tasmanian antiques much loved by collectors on the mainland.
Fast and easy shipping at the best possible price is available from Tullochs and given that all our items are photographed and described in a full online catalogue and are available for inspection in our rooms, anyone can bid with complete assurance. Unlike the oldfashioned inrooms auctions held at inconvenient times, this form of shopping is perfect for everyone from astute investor, serious collector & savvy bargain hunter looking to “never pay retail”.
Tulloch’s sell a huge range of goods including jewellery, art, antiques, wine, homewares and appliances, automotive, boating, recreational and sporting equipment. Rare, antique and vintage items are readily available for purchase.
Tulloch’s provide an online bidding platform that allows customers to browse current lots, access product information and to bid on items – no matter where they are based. All you need is Internet access and an email account.
A tip from the experts: We thoroughly recommend that you don’t leave your bidding to the last second. By far the most common complaint we receive is from people that had more money to spend but got pipped at the post because they held back until the last moment, trying to hide in the
shadows and sneak up on the other bidders at the last minute….and the auction went and closed on them! you can avoid this by using the “Live Catalogue” option which refreshes for you- bids in the last minute will extend the bidding time by another minute so there is no “sniping” at Tullochs.
Not ready to jump into the digital age just yet? Not to worry!
You can phone us with a bid or drop in and leave us a written ‘Absentee Bid’ authority.

Your maximum bid amount is the highest amount of money you want to pay & it is entered into our system which automatically bids against other bidders on your behalf, up to the maximum you have authorised. The system is not designed to ‘bid you up’, it offers as little of your money as
necessary to win your lot.

For example; you may have authorised us to bid up to $1000 on a lovely Persian rug you’ve had your eye on. The bidding opens with an online bid of $300. The system bids $400 on your behalf.
Other customers bid $500 and $600 respectively. The system then places a $700 bid on your behalf
and the auction ends. The item has reached reserve and nobody has placed a higher bid so you are the winner at $700, leaving you with $300 to spend on something else!
And did you know that after an auction you can treat us like a shop and buy goods on the spot?
